The Montana
Broadcasters Association currently funds three scholarships
and matches two others. MBA Scholarships are offered
at The University of Montana-Missoula, Montana State
University-Bozeman and the UM College of Technology-Helena.
The MBA matches scholarships awarded by the Great
Falls Broadcasters Association and the Billings
Broadcasters Association. The Great Falls Broadcasters
Association Scholarship may be used at any college
or university in Montana. The Billings Broadcasters
Association Scholarship is for a student at MSU-Billings.

The oldest of the MBA
Scholarships is the Joe
Durso Memorial Scholarship
at The University of Montana. Named in honor of
former MBA board member and the chair of the Radio-TV
Department at UM, the scholarship is awarded annually
to a student entering the senior year majoring in
Radio-TV or Broadcast Journalism. The scholarship
honors the memory of fallen broadcasters in Montana. |

The Directors’
Scholarship at Montana
State University is awarded to a student majoring
in Media and Theater Arts. The scholarship is in
honor of the many Montana broadcasters who have
served the MBA and their communities since the founding
of the association in 1949. |

The Engineers’
Scholarship is awarded
to a second-year student in Engineering at the UM
College of Technology interested in pursuing a career
in broadcast engineering. The scholarship is offered
in recognition of the many broadcast engineering
advancements that have been pioneered by Montana’s
broadcast engineers. |

The Great
Falls Broadcasters Association Scholarship
is awarded to a student who has graduated from north-central
Montana High School (Cascade, Meagher, Judith Basin,
Fergus, Choteau, Teton, Pondera, Glacier, Toole,
Liberty, Hill, Blaine, Phillips, Valley counties)
and is enrolled as at least a second year student
in Radio-TV at any public or private Montana college
or university. |

The Billings
Broadcasters Association,
in partnership with Montana State University-Billings
and the Montana Broadcasters Association, offers
two scholarships for $1000.00 each, for two students
at MSU-Billings who are studying for careers in
the broadcast industry. Applicants need to be a
Montana or Wyoming resident, and might be interested
in such career and study areas as promotions, public
relations, graphic design, information technology,
marketing, and other related areas. The deadline
for application is March 1st. For an application
